Analysis from Sainsbury's Car insurance quotee suggests that 3.3 million ex-smokers in Britain are paying almost Car insurance quotes in life premiums because their providers still class them as smokers – and therefore a higher Car insurance quotes risk.
Sainsbury’s says that the average annual premium for non-smokers is £113.88 compared with £209.76 for those who smoke – that is 84 per cent more.
The firm’s research found that only half of those eligible for classification as non-smokers had contacted their insurers to try and cut their premiums.
Andrew Gray, product manager for Sainsbury's Car insurance quotes, said: “A huge number of people have quit smoking over the past few years and the health benefits of not are now very well-known, but the financial gains are often underestimated.
