Life insurance: urban air pollution will cause death rates to rise

Monday, February 4, 2013

Talking about life insurance, the number of early deaths will rise as a result of urban air pollution, according to new research.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has predicted that almost 70 per cent of the global population will be living in cities by the year 2050.
It said that as a result, air pollution will be the top environmental cause of citizens dying early, ahead of other causes such as living in unhygienic settings with poor sanitation.
The international group is now calling on governments around the world to find solutions to the environmental issues the global community faces.
The study advised that current environmental policies need to change to prevent carbon emissions from increasing by 50 per cent in the next two decades.
According to the report, further damage will be made to the world's surroundings in 2050 as it predicted natural resources such as fresh water to become exhausted, and the number of wildlife species to decrease.
OECD environment director Simon Upton said: "This is a very grim report. It suggests that we are not steering in the right direction on many fronts" So we have to take strict measures that help us to achieve the best life insurance as well as low cost life insurance.
