Talking about life insurance, more people than ever are getting cancer, prompting calls for more research into the killer disease following the release of latest statistics.
New figures reveal that breast, lung and colorectal are the three most common forms of cancer for females with prostate, lung and colorectal accounting for most cases in males.
According to the Office of National Statistics there were 136,372 new cases of cancer registered in England among men in 2010 - up 1,736 or 1.3 per cent on 2009 - and 132,386 for females, an increase of 2,343 or 1.8 per cent.
The figures include 999 more cases of breast cancer in 2010 compared to the previous year, which Breast Cancer Campaign says represents a 6.3 per cent increase since 2001.
The charity's campaign chief executive Baroness Morgan said the increase highlighted ''the need for more research into the most effective ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating breast cancer" for best life insurance.
